My client is a South Dublin accountancy practice, based near the city centre and they are seeking a qualified or part qualified tax professional to join the team.
You will be working closely with the Tax Manager and Tax Director and be involved in the following work:
1. Tax Compliance and Filing - Preparing and filing tax returns for individuals, companies, and partnerships.
- Ensuring compliance with Irish tax regulations (Income Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, CGT, CAT, RCT).
- Managing deadlines and ensuring timely submission of all tax filings.
- Liaising with the Irish Revenue Commissioners (Revenue) to resolve tax issues and queries.
2. Corporation Tax (CT) - Preparing and submitting Corporation Tax returns (CT1).
- Calculating tax liabilities and ensuring accurate reporting.
- Advising on tax planning opportunities to minimise corporate tax liability.
3. Income Tax and Personal Taxation - Preparing personal tax returns (Form 11) for self-employed individuals and directors.
- Advising on personal tax credits, reliefs, and deductions.
- Providing guidance on rental income, foreign income, and other complex tax situations.
4. VAT (Value-Added Tax) - Preparing and filing VAT returns (VAT3).
- Advising on VAT treatment of domestic and cross-border transactions.
- Managing VAT registration and de-registration.
- Ensuring compliance with EU VAT regulations and reverse charge rules.
5. Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) - Calculating CGT on the sale of assets and properties.
- Advising on available reliefs (e.g., Principal Private Residence Relief, Entrepreneur Relief).
- Preparing CAT returns and advising on inheritance tax planning.
6. Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) - Managing RCT obligations for construction-related clients.
- Filing RCT returns and ensuring correct deduction rates.
- Advising clients on RCT compliance and subcontractor status.
7. PAYE (Pay As You Earn) - Advising on payroll taxes and employee benefits.
- Filing monthly and annual payroll submissions through Revenue Online Service (ROS).
- Managing benefit-in-kind (BIK) and pension contributions.
8. Tax Planning and Advisory - Providing strategic tax advice to minimise liabilities.
- Advising on restructuring, acquisitions, and disposals from a tax perspective.
- Identifying opportunities for tax relief and incentives (e.g., R&D Tax Credit).
- Supporting clients with residency, domicile, and cross-border tax issues.
9. Client Communication and Support - Acting as the main point of contact for client tax queries.
- Explaining complex tax issues to clients in clear, understandable terms.
- Providing updates on changes in tax legislation and how they affect the client.
10. Tax Audits and Investigations - Preparing clients for Revenue audits and investigations.
- Liaising with Revenue officials and handling client representation.
- Resolving disputes and negotiating settlements with Revenue.

11. Research and Keeping Up to Date - Monitoring changes in Irish and EU tax law.
- Updating internal policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes.
- Advising clients on the impact of new tax legislation.
Skills and Qualifications Expected: ✔️ Strong knowledge of Irish tax law and Revenue procedures.
✔️ Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ROS, TaxCalc, Relate).
✔️ Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
✔️ Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines.
✔️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
✔️ Professional qualification or working toward a tax qualification (e.g.,
AITI/CTA).
