Senior H&S Advisor

Our client, a leading contractor specializing in roadworks and infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor to join their team in Galway. The successful candidate will oversee health and safety operations across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and driving a culture of safety excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and systems across all project sites.
• Lead regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and address potential hazards.
• Provide expert guidance to project managers and site teams on all health and safety matters.
• Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized training sessions to employees and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.
• Monitor and analyse H&S performance metrics, presenting reports to senior management and recommending improvements.
• Promote a proactive safety culture, ensuring continuous improvement in health and safety practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety role, ideally within roadworks or infrastructure projects.
• Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
• Experience conducting site audits, managing investigations, and implementing corrective measures.
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and H&S management systems.
• Full driving license and flexibility to travel to various sites in Galway and surrounding areas.
