Part time - Bookkeeper/ Accountant

My client is an established practice based just outside of Tullamore in Co. Offaly.  They are seeking an experienced bookkeeper/ accountant to join the team on a part time basis (2/3 days per week). 

The role will involve:
  • Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable management, and general ledger postings.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with Irish regulations.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure accurate submission of PAYE returns.
  • Prepare management accounts, financial statements, and year-end accounts for clients.
  • Support the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.
  • Analyse financial data and provide insights to clients for decision-making purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with Revenue and other regulatory authorities as required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles (minimum 2–3 years preferred).
  • Irish practice experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in software e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Relate and Thesaurus Payroll and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of Irish VAT, PAYE, and tax regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with clients and stakeholders.
  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, ACA) or bookkeeping certification is an advantage.
