H&S Advisor

Our client, a specialist in health and safety consultancy, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor to be contracted out to Irish Water. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to contribute to vital utilities projects in Galway, with a flexible work model that includes both on-site and work-from-home days.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures across Irish Water projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements, and other safety documentation.
• Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to project teams and contractors.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Irish Water project teams to address safety concerns and ensure best practices are followed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of health and safety activities, including site audits and reports.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all aspects of the project.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within the utilities or construction sector.
• Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and utilities sector standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Full driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites in Galway as required.
